worth of distance run,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Yours is the Earth and everything that&#8217;s in it,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>And &#8211; which is more &#8211; you&#8217;ll be a Man, my son!<\/strong><\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: right;\">\u21d3\u00a0 \u00abThe Female of the Species\u00bb<\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nGdBYSFhrtU\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">WHEN the Himalayan peasant meets the he-bear in his pride,<br \/>\nHe shouts to scare the monster, who will often turn aside.<br \/>\nBut the she-bear thus accosted rends the peasant tooth and nail.<br \/>\nFor the female of the species is more deadly than the male.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">When Nag the basking cobra hears the careless foot of man,<br \/>\nHe will sometimes wriggle sideways and avoid it if he can.<br \/>\nBut his mate makes no such motion where she camps beside the trail.<br \/>\nFor the female of the species is more deadly than the male.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">When the early Jesuit fathers preached to Hurons and Choctaws,<br \/>\nThey prayed to be delivered from the vengeance of the squaws.<br \/>\n&#8216;Twas the women, not the warriors, turned those stark enthusiasts pale.<br \/>\nFor the female of the species is more deadly than the male.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Man&#8217;s timid heart is bursting with the things he must not say,<br \/>\nFor the Woman that God gave him isn&#8217;t his to give away;<br \/>\nBut when hunter meets with husbands, each confirms the other&#8217;s tale\u2014<br \/>\nThe female of the species is more deadly than the male.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Man, a bear in most relations\u2014worm and savage otherwise,\u2014<br \/>\nMan propounds negotiations, Man accepts the compromise.<br \/>\nVery rarely will he squarely push the logic of a fact<br \/>\nTo its ultimate conclusion in unmitigated act.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Fear, or foolishness, impels him, ere he lay the wicked low,<br \/>\nTo concede some form of trial even to his fiercest foe.<br \/>\nMirth obscene diverts his anger\u2014Doubt and Pity oft perplex<br \/>\nHim in dealing with an issue\u2014to the scandal of The Sex!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">But the Woman that God gave him, every fibre of her frame<br \/>\nProves her launched for one sole issue, armed and engined for the same;<br \/>\nAnd to serve that single issue, lest the generations fail,<br \/>\nThe female of the species must be deadlier than the male.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">She who faces Death by torture for each life beneath her breast<br \/>\nMay not deal in doubt or pity\u2014must not swerve for fact or jest.<br \/>\nThese be purely male diversions\u2014not in these her honour dwells\u2014<br \/>\nShe the Other Law we live by, is that Law and nothing else.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">She can bring no more to living than the powers that make her great<br \/>\nAs the Mother of the Infant and the Mistress of the Mate.<br \/>\nAnd when Babe and Man are lacking and she strides unclaimed to claim<br \/>\nHer right as femme (and baron), her equipment is the same.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">She is wedded to convictions\u2014in default of grosser ties;<br \/>\nHer contentions are her children, Heaven help him who denies!\u2014<br \/>\nHe will meet no suave discussion, but the instant, white-hot, wild,<br \/>\nWakened female of the species warring as for spouse and child.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Unprovoked and awful charges\u2014even so the she-bear fights,<br \/>\nSpeech that drips, corrodes, and poisons\u2014even so the cobra bites,<br \/>\nScientific vivisection of one nerve till it is raw<br \/>\nAnd the victim writhes in anguish\u2014like the Jesuit with the squaw!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">So it comes that Man, the coward, when he gathers to confer<br \/>\nWith his fellow-braves in council, dare not leave a place for her<br \/>\nWhere, at war with Life and Conscience, he uplifts his erring hands<br \/>\nTo some God of Abstract Justice\u2014which no woman understands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And Man knows it!
