Present simple <em>&#8216; I hardly ever go out these days&#8217;. \u00a0&#8216;As a rule, I don\u2019t watch much TV&#8217;.\u00a0<\/em>&#8211; You can use tend to to talk about present habits.<em id=\"__mceDel\" style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\"> &#8216;I tend to stay in during the week&#8217;. &#8216;I don\u2019t tend to read much&#8217; (or &#8216;I tend not to read much&#8217;)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>2. Will\/won\u2019t \u00a0&#8211; It\u2019s more emphatic than present simple. &#8216;<em>I\u2019ll usually listen to some music before I go to bed&#8217;. &#8216;I won\u2019t normally get up before 11 at the weekend&#8217;.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>3. Present continuous \u00a0&#8211; Often used to talk about annoying habits. <em>&#8216;He\u2019s always watching TV!&#8217; &#8216;He\u2019 s always losing his keys!&#8217;<\/em> \u00a0 \u00a0\uf097Remember there are some verbs, called state verbs, which are not usually used in the continuous form.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>4. Some state verbs. \u00a0 \uf076THOUGHTS: \u00a0believe, know, mean, realise, recognise, remember, suppose, understand, feel, think. \u00a0 \uf076FEELINGS: \u00a0adore, dislike, despise, hate, love, want, wish, prefe,\u2026 \u00a0 \uf076 BELONGING: belong, have\/have got (=posses), own, posses\u2026 \u00a0 \uf076 SENSES: smell, taste, hear, see. \u00a0 \uf076 OTHER STATE VERBS: seem, look, look like, matter,\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>5. Talking about past habits \u00a0 \uf097 Past simple <em>&#8216;I did it every day for 10 years but then I gave up&#8217;.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>6. Used to &amp; would \u00a0 \uf097 Used to <em>&#8216;I never used to read much when I was a kid&#8217;. &#8216;I used to eat a lot but I can\u2019t afford to these days&#8217;.<\/em> Don\u2019t say *use to* in the present, say usually. \u00a0 \uf097 You can use would for repeated actions in the past <em>&#8216;When I was in France I would always eat croissants for breakfast&#8217;<\/em>. You can\u2019t use would with state verbs: \u00ab<em>I didn\u2019t recognize him. He *wouldn\u2019t* have a beard.\u00bb<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>7. How often do you\u2026?
