You&#8217;re driving too fast!<br \/><\/i>B:\u00a0<i>Yeah right, &#8216;cause you never drive too fast, do you?<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>&#8216;I forgot&#8217;:<br \/><\/b><i>A: Slow down! You&#8217;re driving too fast!<br \/>B: Sorry, I forgot you were the expert driver! How many times have you crashed in the last year?<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>&#8216;If&#8217; &#8230; &#8216;must&#8217;:<br \/><\/b><i>Well if you read it on the Internet it must be true!<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u03a6 \u00a0Make it clear that you are being sarcastic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It&#8217;s really important that your conversation partner realises that you are being sarcastic. Here are a couple of ways of doing this:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Exaggerate your feelings using strong words and a lively intonation. So if something bad happens, instead of saying &#8216;<del>Good, I&#8217;m glad that&#8217;s happened&#8217;<\/del>\u00a0try &#8216;<i><b>Great<\/b>! That&#8217;s\u00a0<b>just<\/b>\u00a0what we need!&#8217;<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">People will also sometimes use old-fashioned English to exaggerate: &#8216;<i><b>Gosh<\/b>, you&#8217;re quick!&#8217; &#8216;<\/i><i><b>I say<\/b>, that&#8217;s a surprise!&#8217;<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><i>\u00a0<\/i>Sometimes, the situation will make it obvious that you are being sarcastic and you don&#8217;t need to worry about people misunderstanding you. But if you are worried that people might misunderstand you, then after your sarcastic comment, say<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>&#8216;Just kidding!&#8217; \u00a0<\/i>or \u00a0&#8216;<i>I&#8217;m only joking!&#8217;
